This video is a demo of the FpML Trader. It shows a scenario using the tool from an Investment Manager's perspective. The goal of the FpML Trader is to show the benefits of having a common standard in terms of transaction processing and workflow by building an application that is able to generate and process standard FpML messages. The scope is defined in terms of products and processes: - The prototype supports vanilla interest rate swaps. - The process supported is the trade execution advice. - The main scenario is the communication between Investment Managers (IM) and Custodians. An IM would send the trade details that it has done with another party to the Custodian bank. The Custodian bank needs the trade data in order to manage the IMs accounts. - The application integrates the Toolkit for FpML Processing validation rules engine.

News Update: Citi Bullish on Custody Banks, Says Buy State Street and Others (STT, BK, NTRS)

In a research note to clients, Citigroup said that it remains bullish on custody bank earnings going into the second quarter and reiterates its "Buy" recommendations on State Street (NYSE:STT), Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE:BK), and Northern Trust (NASDAQ:NTRS). Citi believes that all three banks will report a sequential improvement in earnings and that the eventual increase in interest rates will be a positive catalyst. Citi also cited several other positive catalysts including wider LIBOR/Fed Fuds spreads, M&A activity, and clarity regarding capital requirements. SmarTrend is bullish on shares of State Street and our subscribers were alerted to buy on July 07, 2010 at $36.39. The stock has risen 3.3% since the alert was issued.

We must petition the Royal Bank of Canada to rescind its decision to close this branch in Old Montreal. Otherwise we will have consented to a potential architectural blasphemy, and the bank will surely have failed a test of corporate social responsibility. But here is the principal reason why it should be unthinkable for the bank to abscond: In the hall of this bank are two massive memorials that command pride of place. They contain hundreds of names in alphabetical order, stitched in brass and positioned in stately columns on iron plaque. They are the names of young men, most of them just out of boyhood, who went to Europe nearly 100 years ago in the uniform of Canada, and who never came home. The site, in short, is more a shrine than a place of business. In no respect should the young men whose names have been eternalized here be slighted. The Royal Bank, as the parent and proper custodian of the space, and itself an iconic institution of Canada, needs no better reason to reverse its decision.
